I saw this recently in a restaurant and it was about the "customer"; I changed "customer" to "client" and gave each of my staff this note:
A MESSAGE FOR ALL OUR EMPLOYEES:
"WHAT IS A CLIENT"
A client is the most important person we ever come into contact with; a client is not dependend upon us, we are dependent upon him/her.
A client is not an interruption of our work; he/she is the purpose of it. We are not doing him/her a favor by seeing him/her, He/She is doing us a favor by giving us the opportunity to serve him/her.
A client is not someone to argue or match wits with; nobody ever won an argument with a client.
A client is a person who tells us what he/she wants. It is our job to supply his/her needs and make him/her happy.
Without the Client... Our job is not necessary.

Just a nice little reminder for everyone at Scott and Fenderson that we always make time to talk with our clients; I even give all of my clients my private cell phone number.
