If you hire a lawyer that advertises on television and has an 800 number, there is a good chance that they will send an "investigator" to your home or hospital room. The word "investigator" is legal speak for what this person actually is, and that is a "contract runner". A good indication of this is when the "investigator" has brought along a contract for legal representation for you to sign. You might want to ask the investigator if he is a lawyer, and you might also want to ask where is the lawyer, and who is the lawyer in the firm that will be actually handling my case? In my opinion, you deserve to meet with the lawyer that is going to handle your case, especially for that all important first meeting when you are asked to sign a contract for legal representation. A contract runner, unless he is also a lawyer, is not allowed to answer any legal questions, or give you any advice.
